Traded away WR Julio Jones
Traded away WR Alshon Jeffery
As I wrote in my annual 3-6-9 Fantasy Guideline, Julio Jones has a miserable schedule during the fantasy football playoffs. Even since writing that article, several listeners have asked about trading Julio Jones. I have been recommending to trade away Julio Jones since week 5/6 of the season. Usually this is the time of the season when you know how your team is shaping up for the fantasy playoffs. If you're already 5-1 or 4-2, then there is a good shot you will make the playoffs. If you're 2-4, then it's also time to shake things up before it's too late. WR Julio Jones is a well known player in fantasy football and that holds great trade value. So if you're already on track to make the playoffs, you should be looking at the playoff schedule to see which players to trade for and trade away over the next month.
Julio Jones is matched up against CB Josh Norman of the Carolina Panthers twice during the fantasy playoffs. Norman is one of the best (if not the best) shut down corners in the league. Last season, he held Jones to 5.8 and 5.9 points per game when playing against each other. There has been talk about Julio moving into the slot or being creative to play on the opposite side of the field from Norman, but I'm not buying it. The 2012 fifth round draft pick wants to compete against the best wide receivers in the league to show he deserves to get paid after this final year of his contract. Norman will undoubtedly get paid, but if he can shut down Jones twice and Odell Beckham in week 15, Norman will be on track for a major pay day. Don't plan on much for Julio during your fantasy playoffs and trade him if you're still able to do so. This trade is clearly a win for Team A because Alshon Jeffery has great match ups versus Washington, @Minnesota, and @Tampa Bay during the playoffs. Good luck trading!
